Our previous page was very out of date, so this is a work in progress.
Compsec.net is a secure chat network running on the SILC (pronounced
silk) protocol. SILC stands for secure internet live conferencing,
and is a stable, secure cross-platform alternative to irc and ssl tunnels.
Features which differentiate SILC from IRCS include a 100% encrypted network
(nothing can be sent plain), fingerprint and public/private key system, high
fault tolerance for netsplits, and unintrusive operator bits (opers have no
power to sniff, spy, op themselves, etc.). For a more comprehensive
technical overview, please refer to the official SILC website.
